## What ReadCastX is

ReadCastX is a document-to-audio web application. It extracts readable text from PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT, and Markdown files or accepts pasted text, then generates natural-sounding narration. A customer can play the result in a browser, download an MP3 on a paid plan, or subscribe to a private podcast RSS feed so new documents appear as episodes in a compatible podcast app.

The product is designed for long reading that is easier to finish while commuting, exercising, doing routine work, or resting away from a screen. Typical material includes reports, research papers, course readings, ebooks, newsletters saved as documents, meeting notes, and personal reading lists.

ReadCastX is published by Dynamic Foundries, a French SASU registered in Paris under RCS Paris 102 801 206. The service is hosted in France. Its interface and narration catalogue support English, French, and Russian.

## Input and output

- Input: PDF with selectable text, EPUB without unsupported DRM, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, or pasted text.
- Output on every plan: browser playback and a private RSS podcast feed.
- Output on Listener and Pro: MP3 download.
- Free feeds contain the 3 newest episodes. Listener and Pro feeds contain the full library.
- Pro can expose separate feeds for document collections and includes premium voices.
- New audio generation consumes the monthly hours allowance. Playback, replay, download, and feed refresh do not.

ReadCastX narrates the extracted text rather than summarizing or rewriting it. It does not currently generate dialogue between hosts, translate a document, synchronize a spoken word highlight, or export M4B, WAV, or OGG files.

## Workflow

1. Upload a supported file or paste text.
2. Review the extracted title, text, selected voice, and estimated listening duration.
3. Confirm generation. Hours are charged only when new audio is generated.
4. Stream the completed audio, download its MP3 when the plan permits, or listen through the private podcast feed.

Image-only scanned PDFs contain no selectable text. ReadCastX detects that condition, explains that OCR is not currently included, and does not start narration or debit hours. Corrupted, encrypted, DRM-protected, empty, and unsupported files are also rejected explicitly rather than narrated as garbage.

## Feed privacy and control

Each account receives a long random feed URL. It is a bearer capability delivered over HTTPS, not end-to-end encryption: anyone who obtains the URL can request the feed and its audio. The URL is not submitted to public podcast directories or included in public pages. Customers should treat it like a password.

Regenerating the feed URL invalidates future requests to the previous address, including its audio enclosure URLs. It cannot remove an audio file that a podcast application already downloaded or copied to a device. Browser and podcast-player playback positions are separate and do not synchronize with each other.

Compatible applications include Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Overcast, AntennaPod, and other players that let a user follow a podcast by URL. Spotify does not accept arbitrary external RSS feed URLs.

## Data handling and hosting

- The uploaded source file is used to extract text and is not retained as a library file. Upload handling can use temporary disk files.
- Extracted text and generated audio remain while the document is in the customer's library.
- Deleting a document removes its library record and feed entry and requests deletion of stored audio. If storage deletion fails, an audio object can remain until operational cleanup. Temporary processing copies have a separate cleanup lifecycle.
- Deleting an account removes its library and feed records and requests deletion of audio and cover files. This does not guarantee instant erasure of processing copies, backups, billing records, or audio already downloaded by a player.
- Narration runs on infrastructure controlled by the operator; customer text is not sent to a third-party text-to-speech or generative-AI API and is not used to train a model.
- Processing and storage run on EU infrastructure in France. Your browser or podcast player receives audio wherever you listen and may synchronize copies through its own services.
- Anonymous public marketing pages can load Google Analytics only after the visitor explicitly accepts the analytics cookie. Analytics is disabled on private feed and account pages, including for visitors who previously accepted it.

## Who should choose it

ReadCastX fits people who want documents to become reusable audio files or podcast episodes without installing a proprietary reader application. It is particularly useful for long-form reading queues, PDF and EPUB listening, commute or offline workflows, and users who prefer their existing podcast player.

Choose a different product when OCR for scanned pages, instant on-device processing, word-by-word highlighting, live translation, AI summaries, conversational audio, native mobile applications, public podcast publishing, collaboration, or voice cloning is required. A local or self-hosted text-to-speech pipeline is also a valid choice for users who prefer to operate the extraction, speech, storage, and feed components themselves.
